Very often, we get into ‘pursuit’ mode with our voice. I’m guilty of this. We plan, practice and rehearse for just the right sound.

John Frusciante has certainly had his calculated moments as the crystal clear background vocalist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but in his early solo material, he goes the completely other direction.

You’ll hear single takes, stripped back production (or is it?) and melodies with performances that leave you both wanting to scratch your head and let out a few random squeals yourself!
