Trick Yourself & Others Into Loving Your Voice
How many times have you gone out on a limb with your voice? …Only to start to fail and then… You stop, retreat and clam up! Your confidence takes a ding! You’ll definitely think more than twice the next time you are faced with an opportunity to do something challenging.
This is a perfectly normal reaction, but if you let what’s “safe” rule your vocal creativity, you’ll grow. You’ll never discover what you can really do with your voice until you learn to intentionally put yourself out there to fail and then make the most, creatively, of those failures!
If you make the habit of leaning in to weird things that happen with your voice when you’re taking risks, you’ll actually trick yourself into doing really cool things that you may have otherwise never let yourself experience.
I’ve improved my range, discovered how to scream, learned rasp, how to do runs, and honed my mixed voice (and the list goes on and on) all by primarily leaning into what could have been miserable failures and turning them into creative opportunities!
In this video, I actually pull from a practice video where I “really messed up” and then talk about what leaning into the mistake did for my voice and creativity. It’s extremely eye and ear opening! Enjoy!
